Characters will wake up in bed with their smartphone at their bedside. The closet door is locked, so if they want to change out of their nightclothes, no dice. If they try to remember why they locked they closet door, also no dice, since they remember absolutely nothing from before waking up.
Fortunately, their smartphone has helpful information! Characters can find their and others' profiles*, rundowns of every unit, a map and city information, as well as their job description: while their every waking moment is being filmed and broadcast to a live audience, they'll get to conduct lives, perform in videos, and participate in game shows where they'll compete against other units! Congratulations on becoming an idol!
*All idols are given a profile upon arrival to Imeeji. At minimum, it features the idol's name, picture, unit, and blurb, which are unchangeable. There is also a field for characters to input their position/personal color within the unit upon arrival; this cannot be changed once set. Pictures and unit information will always be accurate, but idol name and bio blurb and trivia can be whatever a player wishes to give them; players may want to think about giving their characters information that will complement the planned character arc, but that is completely optional. Customizing it is also completely optional; if one chooses they may have the profile completely blank besides the unit information and picture, or they can have generic information such as the idol's zodiac sign and liked/disliked foods.
Other applications provided on the phone app
may be found here.
The television in the main room is waiting for your character's input; the current display is a list of the "names" of everyone in the unit with a flashing empty box next to the last name—your character's "name"—much like the ones on the profiles, waiting for the newbie to select a personal color, or in other words their position within the unit. Until the position has been selected, none may enter or leave the unit dorm.
If you are on WILD CITY, your character will see see a second box with a default animal filled for their theme—some newbies are given the option to change this default animal. If they do change it, there is a catalog of animals with names and pictures as well as small blurbs (think zoo facts) for every animal. Sometimes, however, the option just isn't available, for players who want to assign an animal that their character would not choose. The animal selected will affect your character's powers for the duration of their run in WILD CITY, so please consider this carefully.
Upon choosing an animal, your character will receive a free aesthetic animal change. For example, if they choose a cat, then they may suddenly appearify cat ears or a cat tail. This animal change is purely cosmetic, and does not affect the character's abilities whatsoever.
Once the new character has chosen, the closet doors will unlock, and the dorm will also unlock for all characters to leave.
In the closet are three starting outfits with the unit color, the character's position color, and optionally, white—the universal neutral color. There are also unlimited underwear and socks in whatever the player wants to play with, for the sake of ease. Nightclothes may be whatever players desire to put their characters in—however, characters may only have one outfit of nightclothes. If these nightclothes are destroyed, another one will populate in the closet.
Upon being placed in the weekly announcements, you may begin play immediately, and that the hallway stretched out to include the new character's room.
