It's a holodeck, accessible only through a side door in Ordine's room. Although there are a near-infinite number of scenarios that can be programmed into it and the illusions feel realistic to the senses, none of it is— any food created by it lacks nourishment, nothing is real. Everything is just pretty illusions. Furthermore, any illusions created within the room cannot exist outside of it.
