It seems to serve no real function other than adding more steps to getting inside, but a lever on the other side of the door reveals its true purpose: anyone standing in the dorm when the lever is pulled will be dropped into a pit of spacefuture cybersnakes, which can be controlled via FiN’s technokinesis.

Flipping the switch to this new setting and pull the level will result in the trap door opening up to a new pit, one filled with FiN-shades of silver glitter and confetti in fun gear shapes.
