Through an open doorway in the living room is Taisho’s kitchen, a humble affair with brick flooring and lit by a set of paper lanterns. A large slab of wooden cabinets full of kitchen equipment (such as utensils, kitchenware, tea sets, and suniters) is built onto the far wall, aside from a space in front of which sits a simple refrigerator as well as a sizable chest freezer. Lining the rest of the room is one large counter, which comes with two sinks and a microwave. In the center is a single food prep table that has a low-lying masonry oven set into it.
