pep!pep!’s dorm includes a balcony which is set up like a school rooftop, complete with stairs to be taken up to the balcony. The railing is made of plain steel bars, and the pseudo-rooftop is rather plain, decorated only by planter boxes. These planters contain a variety of plants and flowers, largely types that are commonly brewed into teas. Stuck into each planter are colourful tabs that label the plant in crayon. It looks like small cafeteria tables have been absconded with from somewhere, set up on the roof with folding chairs scattered around them in small groups.
The pool on pep!pep’s balcony resembles the sort of basic lap pool you’d find at a school. It’s fairly large and rectangular, but otherwise simple and functional. It’s lined with mosaic tile, which outlines the lanes in black on the pool floor. Above the lane markings are cordons that span from wall to wall and consist of blue and white buoys strung together to form a physical boundary for each lane. These can be unhooked and removed when the lanes are not needed.
The lanes are all numbered 1 through 8 on the shallow end, and on the deep end each lane has a small springboard. Straddling the pool are a pair of poles from which a string of bunting hangs, also in blue and white. Letters on the flags read “GO! FIGHT! WIN!” on one side, and “BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE!” on the other. On the poles are loudspeakers which implore you to always remember happy days. Thankfully, you can turn them off.
